ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Objective: To investigate the potential adverse eect of 1800-MHz intermittent Electromagnetic Fields (EMF). Method: Cells were exposed to 1800-MHz GSM signals in GSMTalk mode (5 min on/10 min o) at a Specific Absorption Rates (SAR) of 4 W/kg for 2 h. ROS and MDA were detected every 20 min. A DCFH-DA fluorescence probe was used to detect ROS levels and thiobarbituric acid (TBA) was used to detect the MDA. Result: The ROS levels of the 20 min and 80 min exposure groups were significantly higher than respective sham groups. No dierence was found of MDA in the experiment group except 120 min group. The MDA level of the 120 min exposure group was the highest. Conclusion: 1800-MHz EMF exposure at 4 W/kg could induce ROS-mediated oxidative stress injury.
