ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Problems of active magnetic bearings used for centrifugal blood pumps exist, such  as large size and high power consumption. This paper presents a maglev-hydrodynamic supporting structure for centrifugal blood pumps, which uses both Permanent Magnetic Bearings (PMBs) and hydrodynamic bearings to suspend the impeller. The structure parameters and suspension characteristics of PMBs are analyzed and discussed. The research results show that the axial displacement of the two permanent magnets has an influence on bearing capacity and bearing stiness of the radial permanent bearing. Using multiple pairs of permanent magnets can improve bearing capacity and bearing stiness of permanent bearings. When the whole height of the magnetic body is a constant, the single permanent magnet height value is equivalent to the radial thickness value between internal and external permanent magnets, and bearing capacity and bearing stiness of the radial permanent bearings are the largest.
