ABSTRACT

The constructions in the region have a similar structure in terms of use within the different existing typologies. No vernacular residential building has more than 4 levels, 3 being the most common number. The ground floor was kept for the animals, the corral, the house itself stood on the first floor, and on the top floor the cambra, a place for grain storage, food and other belongings. The existence of access to different levels is very common, especially on the ground and first floor, because of the topography of the region. Other types of structures such as wineries, straw lofts, etc. tends to have fewer levels: between 1 and 2, although it depends on the conditions of the site.
