ABSTRACT

In countries like Germany, France, New Zealand, Peru, Australia, earth construction is strongly regulated and supported by appropriate policies and actions. In Italy, despite the long-standing debate on the reintroduction of the use of this material in the building process, we often fail to fill the knowledge and regulatory gaps and therefore to remove the constraints that limit its use. Based on these considerations, the research aims to fill a real need of the “Italian earth construction community,” formed not only by professionals and entrepreneurs but also by citizens potentially interested in this subject, through a data collection that includes the different experiences directly or indirectly related to the use of earth based materials in Italy.
