Rail transportation Deriving a distribution for accident severity from an F-N curve

In this paper, we motivate the choice of a distribution G for the jump height of the CPP, i.e. the accident severity. In section 2, we derive this distribution from the F-N curve. It turns out to be a Pareto distribution. In section 3, we give basic statistical information on parameter estimation and testing. This is straightforward, since the Pareto distribution is well known. In section 4, we provide an illustrative example.
