ABSTRACT
In the area of machine tools there are two main standards that deal with the quantitative Functional Safety. The standard IEC 62061 “Safety of machinery-Functional Safety of safety-related electrical, electronic and programmable electronic control systems” is a derivate of the IEC 61508. It has been developed for machinery, which contains the examined machine tools as a subset. However, it deals exclusively with electrical/electronical control chains.
