ABSTRACT

For the last 20 years researchers have been applying Life Cycle Costing to optimize the operation of pumping units (Jedral 2007). The Hydraulic Institute, and Europump, created a program to allow for efficient energy management based on LCC analysis. Costing analysis requires a combination of economic and technical approaches when considering the projected operating time. The main aim of the research on pumps is to find an optimal system with low energy consumption. The analysis proved that the design process gives the greatest opportunity to optimize the total value of LCC; even though that the higher costs usually occur in the final phases of a pump’s life.
