ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: In underground oil and gas reserved engineering, coring is an important method to acquire the stratum information and study the properties of underground rocks. The integrity of cores is prerequisite for the accuracy of follow-up research. With the analysis of the perniciousness of the fact that drilling cores are more tending to slake and fracture, it can be found that mudstone slaking has adverse effects on such aspects as the collecting of drilling information, recovery of cores and accuracy of experiments on cores, as well as packing, transport and storage of cores. At the same time, mudstone structure, stress modes, water-rock interaction and surrounding environmental factors constitute the main factors influencing mudstone slaking. What’s more, methods to prevent mudstone slaking are proposed in view of engineering practical operations, which may provide certain reference to coring in drilling engineering.
