ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The significance of studying and designing condition monitoring techniques for high-voltage circuit breakers is discussed by discussing what important role high-voltage circuit breakers play in power systems. After summarizing the current achievements and challenges relating to the condition monitoring and evaluation systems for high-voltage circuit breaker, a new monitoring system is designed which further refines the monitoring contents and system operation flow and allows the monitoring of coil current, vibration signals, contacts and breaking times. The new system is a reform from conventional scheduled maintenance to real-time monitoring and offers a thorough solution for the safe, efficient operation of HV breakers.
