ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Induction coil sensor plays an extremely important role in themagnetotelluric field. Compared with the high coil sensor technology outside China, our research in this regard is still some distance behind. Newly developed coil sensors have to receive comparison testing against their overseas state-of-the-art counterparts before their performance can be determined to allow further improvement. In this paper, the newly developed CAS-10M induction coil sensors are compared with an MTC-80 series coil sensors produced by Canada’s Phoenix. A set of comparison including frequency response, noise and actual measurements was carried out. The results show that the comparison testing method proposed herein is able to identify the performance difference of the newly developed coil sensors from its mainstream counterparts and can be used as important basis for evaluating the performance of new sensors.
