ABSTRACT

The fundamental mode for index decomposition is:

i = ∑X X ... Xi i ni2 (1) V signifies the object by decomposition, such as

carbon emission, energy consumption or energy intensity indicators. X1i, X2i, … Xni signify n kinds factors effecting V, and i signifies different industrial sectors, energy species or regions. The index decomposition generally takes the time series data as the object, and inspects the causal factors of

1 INTRODUCTION

Currently, global climate change has been a serious threat to the sustainable development of human society. Countries are working actively to reduce carbon emissions through a variety of ways, in order to alleviate environmental pressure caused by the greenhouse effect. As the largest consumer of energy in most countries, the industrial sector has made a significant contribution to the increase of carbon dioxide atmospheric concentrations. Therefore, it has important meaning to the policy making of emission reduction that research on the carbon emissions caused by energy from industrial sector.
