ABSTRACT

As the production of traditional gas reservoir gradually declines, unconventional gas reservoir becomes more and more important for energy industry, especially the successful exploration and exploitation of shale reservoir in America. However, a thorny issue is put on the table that the permeability of shale is extremely low. F. Javadpour[1] analyzed 152 core samples from nine gas reservoirs of North America, and, he found that the permeability of shale stone was concentrated 54 nD (54 × 10−21 m2) and ninety percent of permeability was less than 150 nD. Such low permeability results in that the gas seepage law of shale reservoir has many different characteristics with traditional gas reservoir. Because gas seepage law is a very important foundation for proper exploitation of shale reservoir, it’s crucial to study on this issue.
