ABSTRACT

The increased utilization of clean energy resources helps to reduce significant amounts of pollutants emissions. Power utilities are still unable to use major quantities of available Renewable Energy Sources (RES) due to their intermittent nature. Storing a part of renewable power produced during its available period and reusing it during the unavailable period can help to improve the utilization of RES while supplying the power demand. Thus, a steady and higher level of renewable penetration to the grid can be achieved by employing Energy Storage Facilities (ESF) (Pazheri et al. 2012a, b).
