ABSTRACT

Due to decrease of the fossil fuel resources, environmental and heat pollution the problems of rational fossil fuel and renewable energy resources usage as well as waste heat recovery are becoming urgent (Samusia, Oksen & Komissarov 2012). The mine water pumped from the mines, outlet mine air, the outlet water of the compressor cooling systems are the main sources of the waste heat at the coal and ore mines (Samusia, Oksen, Komissarov & Radiuk 2012). Essential temperature value (15-30 ºС), cheapness and availability of those sources make them feasible for heat pump technology utilization for the mine’s heat supply (Krasnyck 2005). In 2010 the scientists from the National Mining University developed and implemented the first in Ukraine and CIS the heat pump unit that uses mine water for waste heat recovery at “Blagodatna” mine PJSC “DTEK Pavlogradvugillia”. The heat pump heat rate is 800 kW. It allows to heat 120 m3 of mine’s waster for the hot water supply system (HWSS) at 7-hours operation cycle (Samusia 2013). The positive experience of the unit operation justifies the feasibility of the heat pump waste heat recovery of the mine water for HWSS and allows recommending the technology to be used in other mines. Due to this the improvements of this technology taking into account the specifics of its implementation in other mines are increasing.
