ABSTRACT
By the end of 2012, Central Economic Work Conference pointed out that “Urbanization is the historical task of China’s modernization, but also the greatest potential for expanding domestic demand. We should focus on improving the quality of urbanization, capitalizing on the trend while avoiding disadvantages, and actively guiding the healthy development of urbanization.” In the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, it was proposed to put forward the industrialization, information technology development, urbanization and agricultural modernization as the carrier of building a well-off society; and to further focus on the quality of urbanization. Since the reform and opening-up, Hebei has made rapid development in urbanization. The province has made great progress in enlarging the number and the sizes of the newly built towns, as well as in improving the towns’ quality and economic efficiency. However, compared with the national average level, especially with that in the eastern coastal provinces, the development level of urbanization in Hebei is still backward, and is incompatible with the economic and social development. Therefore, analysis of the impact factors that affect the development of urbanization is of great significance to promote a healthy and rapid development of urbanization in Hebei Province.
