ABSTRACT

Jiangdong Bridge is a self-anchored suspension bridge with a span arrangement of (83 + 260 + 83) m. The main cable of the middle span is spatial cable plane. The distance between the two main cables in the midspan is from 3.0 m at the top point of the tower to 42.5 m at the bottom. The two main cables of side span are in parallel arrangement.There isn’t any hanger in the side span. There are 26 pairs of hangers in the mid-span. There is a tilt angle in the transverse direction. The slope is approximate 2.9:1. The stiffening girder was designed as a separated twin-box girder connected by the box section beam.The width of the stiffening girder is 47 m. The type of this bridge was a new structural system. This type was used for the first time at home and abroad. It is necessary to study the system transformation process of the structure by the total bridge model tests. The static and dynamic mechanical properties of the structure after the completion of bridge were studied.The purpose was to check the correctness of the design theory, and understand the characteristics of this structure by the model test, in order to ensure the safety and reliability of the structure and provide guidance for the practical construction process. This paper introduces the design and production, test system, system transformation tests, and static and dynamic load tests after the completion of the bridge.
