ABSTRACT
This model has been widely employed to reproduce the behavior of unsaturated soils with great success.
More developed models include the degree of saturation in their formulations (see for example Bolzon et al., 1993; Kohgo et al., 1993; Karube & Kawai, 2001; Gallipoli et al., 2003; Wheeler et al., 2003; Pereira et al., 2005; Sun et al., 2007(a); Alonso et al., 2010; Della Vecchia et al., 2013). These models make use of the Bishop’s effective stress σ ′ij (Bishop, 1959).
