ABSTRACT

Over the last few years it has been possible to use Computer-Aided-Design systems (CAD) in dental medicine to confer more objectivity in the evaluation of pre-clinical performance such as DentSim by Denx®, Virtual Reality Dental Training System by Novint® and PrepAssistant by Kavo®. The main purpose of these systems is to help students to identify and understand their mistakes in dental preparations and to assist teachers when monitoring and evaluating the students’ performance (Cardoso et al. 2006).
