ABSTRACT

Auto Generation Control (AGC) is an important technical means of the secondary frequency regulation and an effective way to ensure the safe operation for power system. Nine hydropower stations on Wujiang River except Goupitan station, which is operated by China Southern Power Grid, involve in AGC and play an important role in ensuring interconnection and stable operation between China Southern Power Grid and Guizhou power grid. Currently, AGC in power grid focus on maintaining power system frequency and inter-provincial tie line exchange power in the specified range, which is different from the coordinated control mode in the cascaded hydropower stations. In this mode, power grid sends the AGC command down to the centralized control center, and the control center cascaded AGC considers the generation enterprises of their control objectives based on meeting the safe operation of power grid, reasonable arrangements AGC output of electric power, and issued to the station to perform.
