Flow conditions in the northern Gulf of Mexico: Using doppler current profilers from oil and gas platforms for ocean currents

Here, we only present results from some statistical analysis for the overall characteristics of velocity magnitude and directions. The first analysis produces simple statistics such as the mean velocity. The temporal variations over the western, central, and eastern regions are then examined. Directional histograms are produced and analyzed. Time series and spectra as well as rotary spectra are also analyzed. The details of these can be found in a BOEM report (Li and Rouse, 2014). Here, we only provide a summary of the basic statistics.
