ABSTRACT

Maximizing the power of a wind farm is a control issue. It starts by asking how to denote the optimization variables, formulate the problem, and determine the optimum solution?

In this paper, the problem is constructed to increase the total power production in a wind farm. Yaw oset angles and induction factors of wind turbines in a wind farm are used as the control variables and formulated the power maximization problem. As a result, the goal is to find the optimum yaw oset angles by applying the first-order Taylor’s expansion method and the induction factors by applying trial-and-error method.
