ABSTRACT
The Act of 3 October 2008 is the major document that defines the principles of environmental impact assessment in Poland. The procedures laid down in the Act have been designed to prevent or limit adverse effects of human activity on the environment through an evaluation of existing projects (e.g. road projects) or plans and programmes (e.g. related to road transport) to be implemented (Radziszewski et al. 2012).
