ABSTRACT

The objective of this study is to develop an intelligent approach for dynamic scheduling of Robotic Flexible Assembly Cells (RFACs). The suggested approach will address the shortcomings of the static scheduling problem. In order to handle the complexity of dynamic scheduling in RFACs, this chapter intend to: (1) review the literature for dynamic scheduling in manufacturing systems, then focus on the recent approaches that have been used to solve dynamic scheduling problems and the events that affect dynamic job shop scheduling. (2) Develop a new approach for dynamic scheduling problems in RFACs. This approach is based on computer simulation modelling and Taguchi method. (3) Demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed approach via a realistic case study.
