ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: In this study, one phthalate-degrading strain was isolated from the active sludge of a sewage treatment plant. The 16S rDNA sequence of the isolate was determined and referred to the Genebank to identify the biological species. The isolate was belonged to Pseudomonas sp. and was a new strain which was not reported before. Orthogonal experiment was designed to explore the optimistic conditions for the degradation of the bacterium, and the results showed that: pH 8.0, temperature 23◦C. Under the optimistic conditions, PAEs stimulate the isolate grow, the phthalatebiodegradation rate of it sped up with the incipient concentration of PAEs rising and the half-life time would be descending.
