ABSTRACT

Traditional Malay Shadow Theatre commonly known as ‘Wayang Kulit’is a traditional theatre form. According to Humardani (1974), it is also known as shadow puppet or leather wayang. The performances can be found in the SoutheastAsian region, such as in Indonesia,Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines and Malaysia. The core element in this traditional theatre performance is figures cut out of leather. The shadow of the leather figure is voiced over by a puppeteer and moved in front of a screen.
