ABSTRACT

Porous media CAES offers the prospect of large-scale and widespread capacity for grid-scale electrical energy storage. This chapter describes in detail the theory and methods implemented into the integrated wellbore-reservoir flow and transport simulator T2Well. An idealized example application to a coupled reservoir-wellbore porous media CAES (PM-CAES) system will be used to demonstrate the new simulation capabilities applicable to the subsurface processes of a PM-CAES system.
