ABSTRACT

Intensive implementation of power converting equipment (i.e. power electronics) into power supply systems of mines causes a negative effect in the form of electromagnetic interferences (EMI). As a rule, they are of harmonic character, and up to the end of the last century the higher harmonics in power supply systems were regarded as the main type of electromagnetic interferences. Nowadays, due to the aging and substantial deterioration of power industry funds (70-80 % in Ukraine and Russia), problems of voltage quality are becoming more urgent. The attention is focused on voltage quality increase as far as electrical power systems of developed countries are concerned as well. It is estimated (Zhezhelenko, Sidlovskiy, Pivnyak & Sayenko 2009), the problems of power quality cost the industry, and in general, the European Union about €10 mlrd per year, while prevention measures make up less than 5 % of the sum.
