ABSTRACT

The problem of gas supply system pipelines in general is formulated as the extension of operation of underground pipelines with minimizing of uncontrolled losses of substances transported. The natural gas pipeline system in Ukraine is the oldest in Europe - more than 40 percent of pipelines have been in operation for more than 12 years, 29% - for 13-22 years, 14.8% - 23-32 years, 15.2% - 33-47 years, 0,1 % - for more than 50 years. General metal loss from corrosion in industrialized countries can be compared with the metal consumption in the development of the metal industry. However, it does not take into account the loss of resources, decreased productivity and product quality as a result of industrial accidents and environmental damage. That is, considering indirect costs, corrosion is taking up to more than a tenth of national income in developed countries. In Ukraine, the problem of protection of underground metal constructions from corrosion acquires critical dimensions against the background of changes in the market of energy.
