Turbine selection

For a large hydroelectric power scheme, the selection of the type and arrangement of turbines is relatively straightforward. The options are: bulb turbines or vertical Kaplan turbines for low head schemes; vertical Francis turbines for medium head schemes and vertical multi-jet Pelton turbines for high head schemes.
