ABSTRACT

The studies with research papers and the subsequent normative laws in UK, USA, Canada, Netherlands, Australia & New Zealand provide the basic criteria for the design of robust structures. With these as reference point, most of the regulations and codes have adopted the same design philosophy and methodological approach. The same observation applies to the Eurocode in EN 1991-1-7 that specifically deals with the issues related to the structural design in the presence of accidental actions.
