Using the polynomial annihilation edge detection for locating delamination in laminated composite plates

The method has been applied to a delaminated multilayered composite plate in order to demonstrate its effectiveness. The in-plane dimensions of the plate are 300 × 300 mm and the lower horizontal edge is clamped. QUAD4 shell elements (5 × 5 mm) have been employed to discretise the plate domain with the use of the FEM code Nastran.
