ABSTRACT

This section presents and discusses the main results of the numerical investigation aimed at identifying the relevance of the L-D coupling effects. The presentation of the results addresses separately the identification of (i) the R limit values (close to 1.0) associated with “true L-D interaction”, in which coupling effects gradually evolve as loading progresses, and (ii) the Ry limit values (large enough yield stress) required to allow the development of L-D interaction effects caused by a “secondary bifurcation” – these effects only emerge and grow as the loading nears the fcrmax applied stress level.
