ABSTRACT

Steel design standards normally define the flexural resistance of IPGs based on the consideration of local buckling and lateral-torsional buckling (LT) limit states. On the other hand, it is common fact that IPGs with slender webs fail in lateral-distortional buckling (LD) mode. There has been much research work reported in the literature on the LD concentrating on the carbon steel beams. Hence, the flexural strength of lean duplex stainless steel I-section plate girders of Grade EN 1.4162 (LDIPGs) is presented in this paper.
