2 CONNECTIONS IN NORMAL AND FIRE CONDITIONS

The tests concern double shear steel-to-timber connections in tension parallel and perpendicular to grain. The experimental results of the steel-to-timber connections loaded in tension parallel or perpendicular to grain are used to validate the mechanical 3D-FEM model. The tests performed in normal condition provided the load-displacement curves and the failure modes. In the direction perpendicular to grain, the failure arises mainly in splitting on one line of the fasteners (Figure 1) with some yielding of the dowels.
