ABSTRACT

Complex nonlinear phenomena always exhibited in a simple model, such as pendulum and SD oscillator. We will start from a smooth and discontinuous (SD) oscillator (Cao et al. 2006) and a mathematical pendulum to introduce an archetype nonlinear model which is coupled with an SD oscillator and a pendulum to form the so called rotating SD oscillator. Both the SD oscillator and the pendulum are the reliable nonlinear system to reflect the nature behaviours of the nonlinear system without any truncation. The motivation of this paper is to present an archetype oscillator by combining the classical pendulum with the recently proposed SD oscillator to explorer the complex dynamics behaviour resulted by the coupling strength of the oscillators.
