ABSTRACT
The challenge of exploiting deepwater offshore oil has been motivating studies on new alternatives for structural systems to support deepwater platforms, leading to the development of fixed compliant structures and of moored floating platforms.The behavior of such systems is characterized by large displacements leading to severe nonlinear dynamic effects, and also may have frequency-dependent mass, damping and stiffness properties.
