ABSTRACT
Cape flats sand is light grey quartz, uniformly graded coarse grained sand. The soil particles are predominantly of one particle size and therefore the sample is classified as poorly graded sand with little fines (SP). Klipheuwel sand is reddish brown quartz sand. It is poorly graded coarse grained soil. It is made up of a wider range of particle sizes with relatively more fines than Cape Flats sand.
