ABSTRACT

In the course of this research fender tests are carried out. For experimental and technical reasons rather small fenders are investigated (Fig. 1). The fender is compressed and unloaded with a constant deformation velocity. First the fender is deformed to the maximum allowable value as stated in the product data sheet. Afterwards, the fender is unloaded again. Fig. 2 exemplarily shows the reaction force as a function of the deformation of the fender. The characteristics of the curve can be attributed to the material properties and the fender geometry.
