ABSTRACT

The unstoppable multiplication of objects, information, sensory stimuli place the man of today in a new situation, especially from a communication point of view. In this sense, Dorfles uses the effective expression “Horror Pleni”, with the intent to emphasize the idea of rejection, horror for an aseptic overproduction, without soul nor meaning. “What is happening to our society and to our economy is that we insert information in vending machines so that they spit out rubbish in huge quantities and at a fraction of the cost”. (V. Flusser, 2007) Another significant image of this change is the cover of The Economist (April 2012), which illustrates a man who designs and manufactures directly with the computer, independently, comfortably sitting at home.
