ABSTRACT

To realise the project with a value of over two billion Swiss francs, the Swiss energy group invited tenders for various different sections. The Kraftwerk Limmern Joint Venture (AKWL), consisting of Swiss Marti and Toneatti construction companies, was awarded the contract for the largest section A2. This includes all the excavation of access and water tunnels and caverns, as well as the construction of the Lake Mutt dam and the responsibility for the logistics of the entire construction site. The schedule foresees a construction period from 2009 to 2016. By the middle of 2012 excavation work was, to a large extent, completed and the site advanced to the concrete lining stage and the construction of the dam located in the high Alps. Presently 2/3 of the concrete lining has been completed as well as half of the longest dam in Switzerland.
