ABSTRACT
Lithium’s cardiovascular side-effects account for the following classification (the given order reflects the frequencies of lithium-induced sideeffects):
(1) Non-specific alterations of the repolarization period in the electrocardiogram (ECG) without concomitant symptoms of clinical importance;
(2) Dysfunctions of impulse generation or conduction;
(3) Myocardial damage due to degeneration and/or inflammation (myocardiopathy, myocarditis, myocardial insufficiency);
(4) Blood pressure changes.
