ABSTRACT

The petite guillotine was developed in Iran during the times of the Shah but persists to present times. The fingers, or parts of fingers, are cut off in succession (Figure 9.4). Fingers can also be lost or damaged by direct violence or by neurovascular loss as a result of suspension or squeezing. The latter is performed by putting a stick between the fingers and then compressing them against each other in order to damage nerves and vessels without leaving visible traces.
