ABSTRACT

The present chapter will deal with some techniques that will be important for successful implementation of a behaviour change programme.

We have previously mentioned that Luthans and Kreitner (1985) have suggested that any change programme needs to follow the five steps below:

1 identify the behaviour; 2 measure the behaviour; 3 functionally analyse the behaviour, i.e. identify the consequences and antecedents

of both the desirable and undesirable behaviours; 4 intervene to change the behaviour; 5 evaluate to determine whether or not behaviour and performance have changed

in the desired direction.
