ABSTRACT

In the previous chapter we demonstrated how a manager can use behavioural techniques to improve the performance of a particular individual. While managers do spend much of their time dealing with people on a one-to-one basis, they are usually also responsible for controlling or improving the performance of groups; normally, the group or department for which they are responsible. Consequently, in this chapter we consider how the behavioural approach can be applied to the management of such groups. We will start, as we have done before, with some examples.
