ABSTRACT
Despite much evidence to the contrary in the scholarly literature, a common stereotype of a terrorist is nonetheless that of a poor (usually male and often Muslim) youth with low education, if not illiterate. Such stereotypes tend to perpetuate themselves, narrow our vision, and can misdirect public policy.
