ABSTRACT

Summary: To meet the challenges of global economic development and international competition, Singapore needs people who are willing to try new and untested routes without fear of failure; people who are prepared to be flexible, and are resilient and able to respond nimbly to complex changes, and to inspire teams and organisations to take leaps of innovation. The future workforce must have the ability to think creatively and with originality to generate ideas and solve future, as yet unseen, problems. This chapter will provide an overview of the initiatives introduced by the Ministry of Education in the K-16 system to create an innovation culture, and develop a spirit of innovation and enterprise. Descriptions of key programmes for students, as well as innovations introduced by schools and tertiary institutions will be included.
