ABSTRACT
The scope of the financial services industry is broad, and includes commercial banking, investment banking, insurance, and asset management. It also includes other types of financial activity, such as securities exchanges and specialty finance. The several segments of the industry are closely intertwined. The coverage in this chapter, however, does include all the strands of the financial services industry and is necessarily limited to its principal substantive segments.
