ABSTRACT
Modernism continues to characterize dominant economic discourse. Yet, its implosion must be imminent. The epistemological foundations in shambles, modernist economics is without a coherent philosophical justification. Consistent implementation of its strategies and heuristics has led to a gradual deconstruction of fundamental concepts. Undermining it further is the incredibility of the metanarrative that motivated the modernist project in economics. Original motivations have unravelled and turned into ironic commentary. Without credible hope of affecting the worlds around them, including the everyday lifeworld, modernists are left to their own devices and doomed to find gratification only within their own community.
