ABSTRACT

Here, and following Law (1990), tourism is defined as the attraction of visitors, both staying and day, drawn from outside the normal travel to work area, whether for pleasure (attractions) or business (conferences, exhibitions). As such, it includes not only holiday travel but also business trips and conventions. Although visiting business people are sometimes excluded from studies of tourism since their visit is work-related, they are undoubtedly visitors who have been attracted to the locality and are spending external income, just like any other tourist.
