Every case begins with a “call.” An assessment professional could be notified by phone, radio, e-mail, memo or letter. The people on the other end of such communications may be emotional, factual or in shock. But they have decided you need to know what is going on in a situation involving the potential for ongoing or future violence. Therefore, the first step you must take is to narrow your focus to that particular communication to the exclusion of all other business.
